A selection from Fabien Cappello's personal collection has been displayed in 'Design is a State of Mind', held at the Serpentine Sackler Gallery. The exhibition, curated and organised by fellow designer Martino Gamper, questions the way we display, archive and organise our most precious possessions by displaying a range of shelving systems on which these object collections have been arranged. As Cappello has said of his collection, “for some reason I tend to have a lot of bowls... I never really decided it was going to become some sort of collection, but it did. They are all from different places (and) I have selected them for their colours and forms.”
Gamper selected the collections from the personal archives of his friends and colleagues, each of which gives an insight into the inspirations and obsessions of designers.
