As befitting a magazine that celebrates the breadth and diversity of design, Icon has commissioned a new designer for each year's awards trophy. Phil Cuttance designed the inaugural trophy in 2012, while Polish designer Oscar Zieta created the 2013 award. Anton Alvarez has been commissioned to design the award trophies for the 2014 Icon Magazine Awards.
Made using his celebrated Thread Wrapping Machine technique of binding materials together through glue-coated thread, Alvarez's trophies are each unique and will be presented to the fortunate recipients of the Icon Awards at a ceremony in December.
