Simon Hasan has been actively involved in tutoring on Platform 19 for the Royal College of Art's Design Products MA programme, throughout the 2012-2013 academic year.
As the RCA states, 'Platform 19 invites students to consider the future of manufacturing by developing their own processes, systems, and even materials as alternatives to the 200-year old industrial model of production and supply. The platform contests the designer's traditional role as a servant to industry, encouraging students to explore the creation and shaping of future manufacturing and product design. We take inspiration from areas beyond the familiar, from ancient craft to scientific research, to inform our investigations. The platform casts the designer as agitator, instigator and agent of change'.
